The University of Blida 02 Lounici Ali presents a training program in distance education via Moodle, for teachers

This morning, 01/17/2023, the Faculty of Economics and Commercial Sciences and Management Sciences hosted a training program in distance education via Moodle for its teachers. The event took place in the presence of the Vice Rector in charge of scientific research and head of the digitization unit at the University of Blida 02 Lounici Ali, Prof. Nassereddine Bouhacein, the Vice Rector in charge of pedagogy, Prof. Said Boukhaouche, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Commercial Sciences and Management Sciences, Prof. Mohamed Ghardi, the head of the vigilance unit and follow-up of distance training, Prof. Abdelaziz Boussalem, as well as the heads of the departments of the above mentioned faculty and their deputies.
Prof. Ghardi indicated in his opening speech that the presentation of the training for teachers is part of the new policy of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, as he declared that distance education is just an opportunity for teachers that guarantees them to communicate with students in a different way, ranging from the usual method of face-to-face teaching to that of distance education through digital platforms. The speaker indicated in particular that following this training, teachers would receive certificates proving their training qualifications, which will give them new opportunities at both scientific and professional levels.
On the other hand, the head of the digitization unit at the University of Blida 02 Lounici Ali, precised that the training of teachers is part of the first axis of the overall directive plan for the digitization of the higher education sector and the scientific research. This means that the digitization plan is a priority for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, added the same speaker, who stressed that for the training process to reach the level of success and continuity expected , its services would share questionnaires including questions relating to the training progress, the level of assimilation, the advantage and the effectiveness which allow the teachers not only to include the courses via the digital platform, but also to go beyond interactive communication with their students. The head of the digitization unit also pointed out that the new law relating to bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral training provides alternating training combining face-to-face training and distance training.
In the same vein, Prof. Said Boukhaouche confirmed that the training at the University of Blida 02 Lounici Ali began on December 15, in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Prof. Boukhaouche particularly insisted on the need to improve and upgrade teaching methods by adopting new models mentioned in Ministerial Law 915, and added that the training program includes at least 5 attendances at face-to-face courses and the same applies to distance learning courses, between December 15, 2022 and June 15, 2023, so that the training program will be sanctioned by the issuance of certificates to teachers after a final evaluation proving their ability to use the technologies of distance learning.
For his part, the head of the Vigilance Unit and follow-up of distance learning indicated that the training program relating to distance education is intended for all teachers affiliated to the University of Blida 02 Lounici Ali, whose number exceeds 900, not without specifying that the program is divided into two parts: the first part, theoretical, takes place online, and the second part, practical, no less important, because it allows the teacher to put into practice his/her courses and all activities on Moodle.
During the training day, two presentations took place. The first presentation by Dr. Mohamed Khanafif, entitled Structuring and Designing a Lesson in the Distance Learning Formula. It revolved around six axes, such as: How to create a lesson according to distance learning support programs, how to prepare a standard distance course on Moodle. The second presentation by Dr Nadia Russo, who dealt with the software used within Moodle.
