On 05/29/2023, the rector of the University of Blida 2 Lounici Ali, Prof. Khaled Ramoul, gave the official opening of the first International Conference African Nationalism: emergence, development and contemporary challenges, organized
at El-Maarifa amphitheater by the English department, faculty of letters and languages, in coordination with RIDILCA laboratory. The opening ceremony was attended by the vice rectors, the rector of the University of Algiers 2, the
dean of the faculty of letters and languages, the heads of departments of the faculty, as well as the head of RIDILCA laboratory.
In his opening speech, Prof. Ramoul stressed that the title of the conference is tightly in line with the objectives of Algerian policy and aims to extend the bridge of communication, cooperation and Algerian openness to the African
continent. The rector added that as the Algerian Government gives priority to opening up to the African market, the university must therefore open up to the African dimension and identity in literary works, given that they constitute an integral part of Algerian identity as an African country.
On the other hand, the dean of the faculty of letters and languages declared that the African man still suffers from the distorted image that the Western perspective gives of him, and which qualifies him in literary works as savage. Hence, Africans must correct this false image which carries with it an unjust racism, through writings, scientific demonstrations and research work. Alongside this conference, the former rector of the University of Blida 2, Prof. Said Boumaiza (current rector of the University of Algiers 2), was honored by his counterpart, Prof. Ramoul.
