The University of Blida 2 Lounici Ali celebrates the National Day of Memory

Today, May 09 th , 2022, the University of Blida 2 Lounici Ali commemorated the events of May 8, 1945, with several activities on the program. As such, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences hosted conferences and
commemorative recordings, and the National Union of Algerian Students (UNEA) organized a cultural activity

For his part, Prof. Khaled Ramoul, Rector of the university of Blida 2 Lounici Ali, emphasized during his opening speech the need for students to familiarize themselves with the details of the historical events that the brutal French
colonization of our country witnessed, in particular the massacre of May 8 th ,1945, which cost the lives of more than 45,000 Algerians during demonstrations demanding independence, particularly after its officialization by the President ofthe Republic as a national day of remembrance

The Rector indicated that the massacre of May 8 th , 1945 paved the way andaccelerated the revolution of November 1 st , 1954. He also called on all teachers to create research and reflection laboratories to deepen historical studies and preserve national memory

In the same context, Prof. Saddek Dahach, director of the Historical Research Laboratory, presented an interesting lecture on the massacre committed by colonialism from its entry in 1830 until 1945, showing the brutality with which
colonialism has treated Algerians since its existence in Algeria.On the same occasion, another lecture was presented by Prof. Karim Menasser, who reviewed the course of the massacre of May 8 th , 1945 in the different
regions of the country

In a related context, a documentary produced by the Algerian television, and in which many teachers from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences took part, was broadcast on the offensive nicknames attributed to Algerians

At the Faculty of Economic and Commercial Sciences and Management Sciences, the National Organization of Algerian Students organized a no less interesting conference on the massacre of May 8 th , 1945, which was presented by a group of teachers of history and representatives of the Historic Wilaya IV, section of El-Affroun. It should be noted that the said lectures were attended by the rector of the University, the vice-rectors, the deans of the faculties and a group of students and teachers
